Greetings from New Orleans in the winter of 2021. To state the obvious, WHAT A YEAR! I am honored to be able to sit here in my tiny sanctuary by the park and send out e mails touting the newest musical release. It somehow feels necessary and frivolous all at the same time.

I wrote “Don’t Leave This Magic Moon” during a complicated time in my life. During this time, I was a bit inwardly focused and struggling with relationships on multiple levels. When I finally decided to look outside of myself, I realized that we are all often in complicated times and these complicated times are humanity’s shared journey. I was no different than anyone else. I was exactly where I needed to be at that exact moment. I also came to the conclusion that sometimes things can be talked to death. Quiet, reflective moments are incredibly powerful and restorative. To find peace, love and happiness in our relationships is not easy but these relationships can be places of great growth and solace. At the end of a long, hard day, the nighttime heals us and breathes new life into us as we sleep. We awake to a new day that greets us, gives us a fresh start and another chance to do the best that we can. You just have to let it happen and “Don’t Leave This Magic Moon”

“Don’t Leave This Magic Moon” is the 10th single that I have released since December 2018. It is hard to believe! I have been slowly and steadily, recording song after song over the past 4 years and it has been such a glorious journey. “Don’t Leave This Magic Moon” features the incredible musicianship of Scott Neubert, Steve Holland, Dwain Rowe, Matt McGee and Jason Roller with Amy Trail providing the haunting backing vocals.

Recorded by Kyle Hershman, mixed by Ben Lorio and mastered by Robbie Dunne. It takes a village y’all!

Yes, this is my “Silly Love Song.” But, What’s Wrong With That? I’d Like To Know.

I hope that this song puts a smile on your face and thank you, as always, for your kindness and support.

Humblest Regards,

The Magic Moon
Lyrics and Music Drew Young

V1
I’m tired of talking baby
Let’s go to bed?

There’s Nothing Left For Us To Say
Time to clear our heads

The things we did and didn’t do
Just forget them all

A clean start’s ahead of us
We ain’t gonna fall

Chorus
Let me kiss you under the magic moon
Let it heal us baby don’t leave too soon
Don’t Leave This Magic Moon

V2
It’s never too late for love
Just close your eyes

The past won’t define us
But it’s no surprise

That we are both a little scared
Been let down and hurt before

History repeats itself
Not this time, never more

Chorus
Middle 8

V3
It’s been years since we met
I aint got one regret

Didn’t know who I was
What I was capable of

Let me lift you way up high
Back to that clear sky

Where I first saw a glance
Where we took a chance

Chorus
